OT: All right, enough of this

(Sorry about the cross-posting, but similar comments have been made on
both lists, and I thought they deserved a joint response)

Hi. I've just deleted 10 paragraphs of brilliantly-reasoned cogent
analysis utterly refuting the ultra-pacifist viewpoints expressed by
Andrew Jamison (on BWW) and Autumn (on Faithful) and others, because
despite the fact that I can prove them wrong on every detail, I came to
the realization (unfortunately after an hour of since-excised typing)
that political debates of this nature do not belong on lists of this
nature. That's what political newsgroups are for, if you want to talk
about retaliation strategy or the benefits of pacifism, go join one.

Contacting people through the list and expressing your grief and your
sympathies and your personal experiences is fine, and I would even say,
necessary; opining on what the US ought to or ought not to do is not.
This includes those people who write "burn the muthas!" just as much as
those who say "oh, gosh no, please don't, violence is so wrong, what's
5000 dead, anyhow?"

Let's go back to talking about Buffy and Willow and Faith and true love
and hot sex, and concentrate on the true evil in the world, Jordan Levin
and his "no crossovers" edict. All other political opinions can go
elsewhere. If we keep debating back and forth (and, let me reiterate, I
had a LOT of "forth" to say), we'll never finish with this.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go write some fic, assuming that the
muse didn't go out for a beer while I was otherwise engaged.
