promised I'll go away after this final part of chapter 12.It really did
get kind of out of hand but now many of you should be happy with the out
come.

So settle back, relax, kick your feet up and I hope you enjoy the ride.

Revelations and Realizations (12e/?)

After several long sweet minutes the two lovers reluctantly separated
both
gasping for air. When they again looked into each other's eyes it was
a repeat of the promises of further, greater expressions of their
passions in the near future.
A suggestive smug smirk came to Faith who was very proud of the
obviously aroused condition of her lover that
had resulted from their kiss.

"Alright I'm sure I can arrange for your conditions to be met."
Cheryl agreed once the two women were once again aware of her
presence "but don't judge Jeffery too harshly, he wasn't going to
kill her, he only came back to increase her security so no one else
could harm her. He was only contemplating killing her because he was
following the orders of someone he thought reliable."

"You know doctor, our kind have heard those excuses from your
profession before" the Seer said quietly, her voice filled with the
irony she saw in Cheryl's defence of Jeffery. "I believe the last
physician that used that excuse as he tortured and murdered our
predecessors was a man named Mengele, DOCTOR Josef Mengele. Do you
find that name familiar my dear doctor?"

Cheryl shivered at Cordelia's inference by comparing Jeffery to the
well known and despised Nazi and infamous war criminal, who had been
known as the "Butcher of Auschwitz-Birkenau". She had been required
to read accounts and transcripts of the atrocities the doctor had
committed in the name of medical advancement in her medical ethics
class in med school.

She remembered how it caused her weeks of nightmares after seeing the
photographs of his "handy work".

"Never Cordelia, I will never allow anything anywhere close to that to
happen again as long as I live." Cheryl swore vehemently she was still
shivering
and the pictures of those victims flashed into her mind bringing
tears of horror and regret to her eyes. "Why do you say your
predecessors were there? How do you know?"

"Doctor, please." Cordelia sighed as she was assaulted by the visions
of the Slayer, witch, seer and watcher of that time, being
systematically butchered
alive by the infamous doctor. "Now isn't the time to discuss this
maybe later when emotions are not so high, just be happy with knowing
that it is one of the real draw backs to being given the sight."

"Cordy, please...don't...do.. this.. to... yourself." Faith croaked
at her soulmate knowing exactly what she was seeing as the Goddess
had explained to her at the temple, "It...wasn't...you ...it...
wasn't... her...no one...could...have... stopped...
it...Watchers...b-betrayal..again."

The Goddess had told Faith the whole sordid story and how Cordelia
had seen them die horribly and had taken the guilt of her predecessor
upon herself. One of the things the Goddess wanted Faith to do was
convince Cordelia that it had been a betrayal of the Watchers Council
that had landed those poor men and women in the concentration camp,
and not some failure or cowardice on the seer's part. Cordelia nodded
slowly
and sadly still not convinced.

<>Don't worry Cordy<> Faith promised silently, <>I will get you past
all this if it takes our entire lives. I just wish TPTB hadn't shown you
the deaths of all the Slayers and their supporters over the
centuries. Nobody should have to bear that.<>

The only thing Faith could do for now was hold Cordelia's hand and
comfort her.

>From the far corner a forgotten Jeffery was startled out of his
guilty revere by the harsh insistent beeping of his pager. He hurried
out of the room embarrassed by his presence; he went to the nurses'
station and called the number given him by the device.

He was only gone a few minutes and when he returned he had a confused
and awestruck look on his face.

"I...ah...well I have to leave." The man said, "It appears that
Alexander Harris has begun to show signs of regaining consciousness.
Since I am no longer needed here I will go attend to him."

He looked over at Cordelia with a thousand and one questions written
on his face but didn't ask after seeing the sad and slightly hostile
look on her face. He wondered how she knew about Harris and how she
was going to react when she found out it was Giles that ordered
Faith's death and speaking of Faith how was it that Faith was in such
good shape after being in a deep coma for four years.

"I think you will find Xander in as good shape as my Faith." Cordelia
said as if reading his mind. "And don't worry about our relationship
with Giles. There are powers at work here far beyond the scope of
even your training doctor."

She turned back to Faith dismissing the man from her mind as if he
was of little consequence to her any longer.

Cheryl watched the entire exchange with a curious eye, she didn't
really understand all that was going on here but from what she'd
learned from Jeffery and from her own observations she was sure a
phenomenal change had come over both young women.

She wasn't sure but she was beginning to believe that the change
wasn't all a bad thing. Shaking off these thoughts she turned her
attention back to setting things up for her new soon to be
transferred patient, making sure her every order had been followed
about their room and scheduling the first of an exhaustive battery of
test for both young women and being sure they were scheduled at the
same time.

There was no way Cheryl was going to face this strong willed protective
woman again, not if she could help it. The doctor knew she was being
entrusted with a great responsibility and she was determined not to fail
these two unusual young women in any way.
