Re: FIC:Ashes-This Isn't Hell
I tried, Mad, I really tried. But...well, it went something like this:
Get home from work.
Scroll down list of messages in my inbox.
Spot Mad Hamlet in 'from' column.
Highlight message. Do NOT open it.
Send it to folder marked 'do not read until finished'.
OK, that wasn't so hard. I'm cool, I'm calm, I can do this.
Go through rest of mails. Ignore little voice coming from monitor saying
"read me, read me".
Get up, make coffee. Do a little work around the house. Voice is now Aly
Hannigan purring "C,mon, you know you want to..."
Make more coffee. Check out blueprints for tomorrow's work. Run same
estimate four times. Get three different results. Look at computer.
Miniature Willow in basketball outfit (yes, the one *you* posted) is draped
seductively over monitor, winking at me. Make dinner. Turn on TV, nothing
on. Check time. I've held out for three and a half hours. Confidence soars.
Look at computer. Miniature Buffy is nibbling on mini-Willow's ear, little
hands stroking little....
I cave. Trudge over to computer. Open post from Mad Hamlet. Mini-Buffy and
mini-Willow fade away with giggles (dammit). I read. I am mesmerized.
I am so full of it. Actually, the preceding was a little fantasy my poor
excuse for a brain came up with in the ten minutes I held out before reading
Ashes 4. As always, your story grabbed me by the scruff of the neck and
shook me 'till my teeth rattled. The scene on the bus was especially
poignant, particularly the description of the wreckage of Mario's.
I would probably have been totally bummed out tonight, but, as I type this,
Shyfox's next 'On Occasion' has just popped in. Talk about your emotional
extremes.<g> I'll shoot this off and read that next. Then I'll dry off the
keyboard and try to send her some coherent feedback. LOL
