Well, lets not forget that angel started his relationship by 
following her around in the shadows. A more benign stalker perhaps, 
and he certainly didn't steal any of her undies (that we know 
about). I'm not advocating a buffy/spike ship right now, as i think 
their chemistry diminishes as he becomes more of a white hat, or at 
least the one he is now. But then the only buffy ship I've ever 
opposed was buffy/xander and buffy/riley
