Ulp! Counter-quoted! (of course, could anyone blame me for wanting to
forget "Where the Wild Things Are", a.k.a. "The Buffy/Riley
Boink-a-thon"?) And ages have been a problem for the show before--it's
just that, unlike the incorrect citings Giles initially gives on Angel's
and Spike's ages, this one came straight from the demon's mouth, so I
believed her.

She could still be telling tales (she certainly got a reaction out of
Spike) but your wish-power thought does seem another way to reconcile
the statements. One wonders what sort of revenge involves witnessing
the crucifixion, though. Unless some angry woman once said "That
cheatin' bastard! I'd like to send him to meet Jesus?" and Anya
completely misinterpreted?

Anyhow, that'll teach me to argue research with a woman who's using a
bibliography so large it requires a separate post.

PS--although I still sort of think Anya's lying. After all, the hot
dog wasn't invented for almost 1900 years after the crucifixion (Coney
Island, turn of the 20th century), so I do tend to doubt her tales of
vending. Unless she brought the franks with her, but that way lies
madness, or next thing you know, she'll be claiming she brought a
camcorder and has the whole thing on tape?

And a demonic Anya wouldn't have been looking for profit opprtunities,
either; the whole money fetish is a reaction to being powerless and
suddenly having to buy things, instead of wishing them so.
