Episode 1
Buffy Summers is a slayer. Like all other slayers before her, she has died. She is the first one however, for whom it was not a terminal condition. Which explains how she could have been eating dinner at a fancy restaurant in LA the night our story starts. However the fact that she could have beeneating at this fancy restaurant in LA doesn't mean she was; she was in fact patrolling cemeteries much closer to home in Sunnydale. On a side note, Buffy does not yet know that her death, however temporary, means that another slayer has been called. We will meet this new slayer at the end of the first episode.
Buffy grumbled to herself as she trudged through the final cemetery on the evening's tour. The reason for her grumbling was all too apparent. It wasraining. She was getting wet. And she didn't like it one bit. Giles hadinsisted that she go out patrolling despite the fact that she had only seen two vampires since her death, and they both had been despatched with an absolute minimum of effort. Reaching the end of her patrol, she turned and started the walk back to Giles'. She grumbled all the way there.
It should be pointed out, in the interests of suspense, that had Buffy beenmore vigilant in her patrol, she would have noticed that she was not alone. Lurking in the shadows had been a creature. The identity of this creature, or its motives shall not be revealed at this time; all that shall be said is that it seemed pleased that a device it held had worked.
Buffy barged through Giles' front door, relieved to be finally out of the rain, only to be greeted by the sight of her watcher and her mother partaking in activities which could only be described as amorous on the couch. They both got up with a start, aware of her presence as her entry had not beenquiet.
"Heard of knocking?" Giles asked, irritated.
"Heard of locking?" Buffy countered, gesturing towards the door. Giles merely sighed. She had a point, especially in Sunnydale.
"I assume the spontaneous make-out session I just witnessed means you finished translating the prophecies earlier than expected?" Buffy asked, a hint of tease in her voice.
"Well, um... no, actually," Giles said, and he continued to mumble as he made his way back to the desk where he had been working. Buffy turned to hermother
"You're a bad influence on him you know."
"I am?" she replied as she fluttered her eyelids innocently. Buffy shook her head and wandered off to the bathroom to grab a towel. As she returned, looking significantly drier, there was a sudden knock on the door. All three turned to look at it, and just as Giles was about to get up to investigate the door opened anyway, revealing a girl, no older than Buffy, slightlytaller maybe. The girl pulled the hood of her coat back, revealing a beautiful face topped by long, red hair. Giles coughed, and the new arrival looked apologetically at him
"Sorry," she said honestly "but I wanted to get out of the rain, and I tried the handle and it was open..." she trailed off, hoping that explanation would do. It seemed to. "May I?" she asked, gesturing at the stand sittingin the corner. Giles nodded vigorously and rushed over to assist her in removing her somewhat bulky coat. As it came off, it became apparent that the girl was pregnant. Giles stepped back, allowing the girl to compose herself. She turned and faced him.
"Mr Giles I presume?"
"Yes, that's me..." Giles responded, unsure of how the girl knew who he was. She extended a hand for him to shake. He slowly took it.
"I'm Willow. The new slayer." Three jaws dropped.
How did Willow come to be in Sunnydale?
How did she know who Mr Giles was?
What do three jaws dropping sound like?
All this and more, next time on the Hitch Hiker's Guide to Sunnydale.
let me know what you think & whether you want the other two already writtenchapters posted :)
