She sat and stared at her words realising they meant little to her 
now. Less, even. She used to believe in champions of light and 
goodness, yet even that was behind her. When she was younger, she 
could easily have believed there were people out there who could 
fight for virtue; valiant and bold. Now though, she knew the truth. 
There were no heroes. Good and evil were just flip sides to the coin 
of reality. Evil didn't have to be sought, it just was.
She remembered seeing a film. "The greatest trick the devil ever 
pulled, was convincing the world he didn't exist!" The ring of truth 
to the words raised bile in her throat.
Yet had that vampire really bitten her? Had her heart truly 
stopped? Was she really dead? She didn't know. She only remembered 
the kiss. That perfect kiss, born of true love.
Strangers they had met, and strangers they would be forever. Yet 
that captivating smile the other wore, ageless features that took her 
breath and filled the void where love once wrought its chains of 
misery...
Love. She had known love again. 
She thought the rape and the void it'd created within her would 
consume her forever. But she'd found passion once more... And with a 
vampire, yet.
And then, a champion of light such as she used to dream of, ran a 
wooden stake through her true love's heart. Now all that was left was 
the dust and the pain, and the searing agony whenever she stepped 
near pools of daylight.
Soon though... she would seek out the cause of her misery.
Soon.
"Villainy," she whispered, "wears many masks. None so dangerous as 
the mask of virtue."
