Buffy glared daggers at Spike.
"Well listen up. How'd you think I feel? Knowing I'll never get 
there. Knowing no matter what I do, this is as good as it gets?"
Buffy's eyes widened.
"Knowing that... The closest that I'll ever get to heaven, is by 
being with you."
Spike approached, closer, leaning down to kiss Buffy's trembling 
lips. He was ash before their mouths touched.
"The hardest thing to do in this world," Buffy said at last to the 
air as she slipped her stake back inside her jacket, "is to live in 
it."

"Where do we go, from here?" Dawn whispered miserably. Her fanny 
still ached from the impromptu ballet she'd performed.
Buffy walked into the room. "I don't know about me, but you're 
going nowhere. You're grounded. Period."
"But..." Dawn whined.
Buffy backhanded her savagely, throwing Dawn across the room onto 
her bed.
"Don't make me say it twice," she said.

"Is my Slayer too far gone to care?" Giles asked.
The voice on the other end of the phone paused. "Maybe," Quentin 
said. "But she's not your Slayer anymore. Leave this to us."
"Yes," Giles mused. "Yes, of Course."

Willow picked up the phone.
"Hello?" she answered.
"Willow Rosenberg?"
"Yes...?"
"Do you recognise my voice?" Quentin Travers' asked.
"Uhuh."
"Its time for you to engage stage 2. You have to break her out of 
this fugue." A pause. "Your promotion depends on it."
Willow smiled. "I'll do my best."

"Willow!" A smile lit up Buffy's face, barely touching her 
eyes. "Come in!"
