Re: [Re: Here comes Mary Sue [RE: The Decline of B/W Fan Fiction]]
Greetings,
*I'd generally agree, but I know some fanfic writers who bruise
*easily, and one at least who writes pro-level stuff but does not
*comprehend the concept of a second draft.
This is a situation of sorts, and there isn't an easy answer. What should
authors do in that scenario? Write a note on the end of every fic
'I don't have much emotional fortitude, please keep all feedback positive.'
Nooo..that wouldn't work. That't be the same thing as committing fanfic
suicide(Ie. In this communutity pairing Buffy up with Conan the Barbarian.
'BY CROM, Slayers have some really neat muscles!' and Willow could go on tobe
Henry Potters tutor or something. That's defintly fanfic suicide.)
I'm thinking a universal approach would be best. That is, if an author posts
publicly than what the public has to say, good, bad, detailed, sparse etc, is
also public. Certain basic aspects should be maintained, such as
proffesionalsims and clear example between negative opinions and out and out
flaming should be made available.
*Yes, Tiny Rat Girl Amy was a last minute revision!
HA! I am not surprised this has occurded. I'm betting other changes you've
made would make for intrestings stories.
Fox: No, no, the dildo isn't aesthetically pleasing in a visual manner from
thing angle. We should redraw that frame.
Anne-Lisse: Aesthetically pleasing?
*It strikes me that what we need is a new writers' FAQ that goes over
*the mistakes we all make when we first start.
That would be a trick to produce. Considering there are REAMS of books about
'How to Be a Creative Writer' or some such flappitybiddget everywhere.
Might I suggest instead altering the FAQ so any authors would know what to
expect?
I mean, I'm not thinking thing would change overly much. Most feedback would
still be good, postitive and supporitive. If somewhat short, but occasionaly,
if someone wanted to C&C publicly they just had that option.

There is only one thing that can damn me.
That can send me down in a swirling maelstrom of fire and pain.
And it is not the word of Man.
And it is not the lessons and rules of the Church, hypocrites every one.
And it is not the words of God, nor the judgements of Angels.
And it not a fair tribunal of my 'peers' that can find me guilty of crimes
immortal.
No.
I can only be accused, judged and damned by my own Soul.
And I would never be so betrayed.
