Actually there have been many incidents over the seasons where Willow dabbling into majik had been confronted quite severely by Giles. With the common 'para'phrase, "You don't know what you are getting into." Before the end of Season 3, Willow was talking about a rush when doing majik. 
while the seasons continued, I kept saying "cool" when she would do majik, but looking back, she was doing more and more majik. 

While I know you were asking someone else's opinion, the misuse of majikwas no surprise. And while there are similarities, and people can make allsorts of connections as we may have a tendency to do in real life, using drug addiction as the only metaphor is as biased as people have accused the writers of Season 6 in being. 

and that's my opinion.
