Buffy,Willow,and Faith were standing in a dark corner right against 
the railing on the upstairs balcony.Faith turned to Buffy and Willow 
and in a quiet voice she said i bet you five bucks that he will go 
down before he gets halfway through the gauntlet.Buffy said i will 
take your bet because i believe he will get at least 3/4 of the way 
to the door or to the door itself.Willow said can i get in on the bet 
and Faith said its five by five by me but you have to add something 
to the bet besides what me and Buffy have already done.Willow thought 
a second and then she said ok i bet fifteen dollars that he will 
start fighting back against the people standing in the lines and he 
wont even get a quarter of the way through the gauntlet.Faith said 
you got yourself a bet and Buffy said likewise and i will raise the 
bet to fifteen dollars up as well.Faith said if we are going to raise 
the bet lets at least make it interesting and she said i say we raise 
the bet to two hundred dollars.Willow and Buffy looked at each other 
and Willow shrugged.Buffy said ok we will raise the bet to two 
hundred dollars each.

A waitress walked up to them and she asked them if they wanted 
something to drink.Willow said i will take a coke classic,Buffy said 
i will take a Dr.Pepper,and Faith said i want a diet coke.Willow and 
Buffy both looked at Faith and Faith said hey you two might not have 
to watch your waistlines anymore but i still do.Willow said Faith 
just because we will live a long time doesnt mean we dont have to 
watch what we eat or drink.Buffy said yeah and everyday we are 
supposed to workout for at least four hours.Faith said you guys 
workout four hours a day and Willow said well we are supposed to but 
we havent been doing it since we came up here.Buffy looked at Willow 
and she said we are going to need to go find someplace we can workout 
tommorrow.Faith said why and Willow said because Giles will be able 
to tell if we have been slacking off on our training when we get back 
to Sunnydale.Faith said what does your training consist of.Willow 
said ussually its an hour and a half of unarmed hand to hand combat,
an hour and half of hand to hand armed combat which means swords,
staffs,axes,and other medievel weapons,and an hour of either running,
lifting weights,gymnastics,or swimming.Faith said damn i thought i 
had it hard with the workouts that Wesley puts me through.Willow said 
well if your willing me and Buffy can switch places with you for a 
week or two.Faith said oh no i aint about to trade my workouts under 
Wesley for your workouts under Giles.

The waitress walked up to them and she gave each of them the drinks 
they had ordered.Buffy said hey Nikon just released Quentin and Faith 
and Willow turned their attention back down to the gauntlet.They 
watched Quentin run up to the gauntlet and he tried to continue 
running through it but the first two people in each of the lines 
started hitting him with the rattan or leather covered switches they 
had.Quentin changed his mind after getting hit between the twelth and 
fifteenth time and he started fighting back.Willow looked at Buffy 
and Faith with a smirk on her face.Faith saw this and she said dont 
get cocky red you can still loose if he gets halfway through the 
gauntlet.Willow said oh he wont he doesnt stand a chance now to get 
any further since he started fighting back.Buffy said what do you 
mean and Willow said just watch and see.Willow turned to look back 
down at the gauntlet and Faith and Buffy did so as well.All three of 
them watched as the people who had been just a bit further down the 
lines of the gauntlet stepped out of line.They surrounded Quentin an 
started beating him with the rattan and leather switches even harder 
than before.Buffy and Faith watched Quentin go down under the number 
of blows from the people hitting him.

When Quentin had fallen to his knees Kynnith who was standing about 
twenty feet from Faith and the others put a whistle to his lips and 
blew into it.Two of the club's staff picked up mallets and rang large 
gongs which was the signal the end of the gauntlet.The people backed 
up away from Quentin and started going back to what they had been 
doing before Nikon had called for the gauntlet.Nikon walked up to 
Quentin and he said you should have paid me Mr.Travers and then he 
told two guys who occasionally did work for him to take him outside 
and drop him where he had told them to.

Willow looked over at Buffy and Faith and said pay up you two.Buffy 
said wow hold on they stepped out of line surrounding him and beat 
him down.Faith said yeah he couldnt get any further because like 
Buffy said he was surrounded.Willow said thats what happens when 
someone tries to fight back durring a gauntlet and then she started 
laughing.Buffy said you mean a person is supposed to go through the 
gauntlet while being hit by people and not strike back.Willow said 
yes thats it exactly.Faith said I'm afraid i have to call this bet 
off because it seems you had access to information that neither me 
and Buffy did and used it to your advantage.Willow said but thats one 
of the essentials of most types of betting.Buffy said thats true 
Willow but you should have shared the information with us after the 
bet was made instead of telling us after the gauntlet was over 
therefore i stand with Faith on calling the bet off.Willow said ok 
the bet is off and Faith said good i only have about three hundred 
dollars left i couldnt afford to lose two hundred on a bet.

Cordelia walked up to Buffy and others and she said we have the 
video tapes how soon are we going to head back to the motel.Willow 
said Cordelia lets hang around for a little while and enjoy ourselves.
