Hi Amy!
Welcome to the list!
(And can I note that the list seems to be growing nicely--we were stuck
at just about 900 members for a good while, and now we've shot up to
like 933 or thereabouts. Hello to all the newbies, generally. Say, did
any of you join up because of the B/W goodness of "Gone" and "Doublemeat
Palace"?)
A good repository of fic from the lists--besides just combing through
the back posts--is A Slayer, A Hacker, which was the archive for the
lists for the first six months, until it became too difficult to keep
current.
The site is located at :
http://www.geocities.com/slayerhacker/main.html
Now, back in the day (watch me try and act like I've been here forever
instead of just since last June), the lists had a weekly theme for
writers to compose stories about. This was an idea of our legendary
listdad, Rodrigo ("legendary", because he's so rarely seen around
here--*sniff*)
--btw, I'm still up for restarting the "theme" concept like Rod talked
about last year, if anyone wants to run with it (or just say they'd be
willing to write to the theme, if there was one)--
And one of the themes, was injuries. So you can find that by going to
page that sorts the archive by theme. There are only two fics in this
category however, and Kimber's "Back Home Again" features an injured
Willow, not Buffy. But Janine's "Starlight" is a classic tale of Buffy
fighting back from paralysis, with Willow there to heal her.
(note: "Starlight" is listed as incomplete in the index, but it's
actually complete--adding the last chapters must have been one of the
final revisions to the site.)
Of course, IMO, anything Janine writes is a classic, including the
Popular and Buffy/Cordelia stories she's written after straying from our
beloved girls. **sigh** (Come back, Janine!)
Pat Kelly's "Fever" (Buffy has the flu) for some reason isn't in the
theme index, but it can be found in the accompanying author index.
Selenay's "Conversations" series, located at
http://www.selenayhaven.com/bardcorner/index.htm
is another hurt-Willow fic (not primarily, but it does play a part), and
also very good. Likewise, Pat Kelly's classic "A Two of a Kind Love"
starts with Willow in her coma form "Becoming, Part 2", so somewhat
qualifies.
Finally, Angelina's "Mind Games" is a rewrite of "Earshot", with the
telepathy-leads-to-insanity problem affliciting Buffy, and her "3 Rs"
series features Buffy having been injured by Angelus. Both of these can
be found in her archive, located at:
http://members.aol.com/bufpop/buffy.html
I'm sure there are many more, but that's just off the top of my head.
Over on JAABAW, the B/W discussion board (
http://www.buffywil.f2s.com/html/forums/ --come over and visit us!
Join the fun! End of commercial!) we've been talking about putting
together a newer, all-inclusive archive, so you can find what you're
looking for more easily.
OTOH, A Slayer A Hacker has 147 fics, some of them quite long, so
hopefully that will keep you occupied for a while.
(And if anyone else has further suggestions for Amy, please don't let
the length of this letter dissuade you from adding your own
suggestions.)
Once again, welcome Amy, and enjoy all the B/W goodness!
Dan
