Hello, and welcome, Alex!

>I'm not as well-versed in the all the history and details

First of all, not entirely necessary. Many of our finest fic writers
hadn't seen many of the episodes when they first started writing. Now,
granted, this did occasionally lead to some egregious errors.

One author, who shall remain nameless out of consideration, wrote in a
fic that Watchers don't have children (what kind of life is that for a
parent, right?). Then I--er, that is, HE--saw "Never Kill A Boy On
The First Date", and discovered that both Giles's father and paternal
grandmother had been Watchers before him.

Fortunately, the current availability of repeats and DVDs makes catching
up much easier. But there are a number of fine resources on-line.

Psyche: Transcripts and Fan Fiction http://www.studiesinwords.de/

Contains transcripts of all aired episodes, and the shooting scripts for
most.

BuffyWorld http://www.buffyworld.com

Contains transcripts, episode vidcaps, and trailers for many of the eps.

BuffyGuide http://www.buffyguide.com

Contains episode summaries, reviews (written contemporaneously, from the
start), details of songs used, quotes, pop culture references and much
more. Running rather behind these days, though.

The Sunnydale Slayers (SunS) http://www.enteract.com/~perridox/SunS/

Contains detailed synopses and fan-based critiques of all episodes
(contemporaneously from "Prophecy Girl" on, the rest of Season 1 was
done in retrospect over the summer of '97). Also some fine
(non-'shipper based) fanfiction. Running about three eps behind
nowadays.

There are also many sites for fanfic, but let me first point you to A
Slayer, A Hacker, the original archive of these lists, covering about
the first six months' worth of fics. It's at
http://www.geocities.com/slayerhacker

A more comprehensive archive is currently in the planning stages. (Of
course, a lot of things are in "the planning stages", but we hope to
actually do this.)

Once again, welcome, and I hope the suggested resources may prove to be
of some help.

(Anyone else who wishes to suggest sites for Alex to visit, please feel
free)
