Actually, if Buffy hadn't given Willow that "seize the moment" talk, she
probably would've brushed Thomas off and stuck around waiting for
Xander, spent a quiet night wondering where Jesse had gotten to with
that blonde in the Catholic school uni, and then the two of them would
have gone safely home.

(I bet that's what Buffy thinks, anyway, whenever Willow tries to bring
it up.)

How long they would have survived after that is a question (Luke very
well might have bagged them at The Harvest, and there's always Miss
French and Moloch to watch out for), but "The Wish" is only one possible
AU.

So if anyone wants to try something else, feel free.
