II.

Buffy opened her eyes to find herself standing in front of Giles? place. She lifted her hand and rapped on the door, wondering how the hell she was going to explain this to the ex-Watcher.

Giles opened the door a few moments later with a questioning expression on his face. ?Yes, may I help you??

?Giles, can I come in? We?ve got a huge problem.? Buffy tried to get around the Brit, but he remained in front of the door denying her entrance.

?I?m sorry, young man. Do I know you??

?Giles, it?s me. Buffy. Let me in and I?ll explain everything to you.?

?Is this a joke? You can not possibly be Buffy.?

?Giles, remember when I decked you right before I went to fight the Master??

Giles blinked rapidly for a moment. Only three people knew about that, and one of them was dead. ?Oh dear Lord. Come in, Buffy.?

He closed the door behind the young woman? um, man? after he stepped inside, and followed him into the living room. ?Ok, tell me how this happened.?

Buffy sat down on the couch, and Giles settled across from her in the easy chair, attentively listening to his young charge. When she told him the name of the woman who had cursed her, his face paled a bit. Buffy saw this and asked, ?Do you know of her??

?Yes, Buffy. Mishra is a powerful witch who has not been heard from in decades. In the early 1800?s she joined a demon named Frashel who helped her gain immortality. The two terrorized humans for many, many years until the early part of the 1900?s when they just seemed to disappear. Frashel returned a few years ago without Mishra, and you defeated him not too long ago.?

?Oh, yeah, that guy who was killing humans and eating their hearts. I remember him. He actually got in a couple of good swipes before I cut his head off.?

?Yes, quite. Apparently he and Mishra had not parted ways as I had believed.? Giles removed his glasses and cleaned them as he thought. ?Now we have to find a way to reverse this just in case Riley won?t help you.? He knew that it was an impossible quest to ask for help from the military boy.

Just then, there was a knock on the door, followed by the sound of Willow?s voice. ?Giles, are you home? Open up, please.? She sounded upset, and Giles hurried to open the door for her.

Willow burst into the house and turned to him. ?Giles, have you seen Buffy? I woke up this morning and she wasn?t there. Riley is off doing something military, and her bed hadn?t been slept in, a? and I called her mother, and she hasn?t seen her either, and?? Her voice trailed off as she noticed the handsome young man standing in the living room. ?O? Oh, I?m sorry. I didn?t know you had company. Hello,? she said politely.

Buffy smiled at her best friend, her heart warming at the obvious concern for her. She caught Giles? questioning look over Willow?s shoulder, and with a slight nod, let him know that Willow should know the truth. If nothing else, she didn?t want her friend to worry any more than she had to.

?Willow, I think we need to talk,? Giles said, taking her arm gently and leading her over to the young man.

When Willow had discovered that Buffy was missing, she had rushed over to Giles? in a state of mild panic. She hadn?t bothered to call, because if Buffy was there, then she would find her, and if not, then he would have most of the tools they would need to find her at his house. She hadn?t expected to find the strangely familiar young man, who she knew she had never met before, but still?

As Giles led her over to the stranger, his eyes, familiar eyes, caught her. Buffy?s eyes, she thought to herself. She had lost herself in those eyes more times than she could remember, making it more difficult than she could imagine to hide the love she felt for her best friend.

Willow had been in love with Buffy since the moment they?d met, but she was sure that no one else knew that. She had gone to great pains to make sure that nobody suspected anything but a strong friendship between the two girls. She?d hidden her feelings under the pretense of a continued crush on Xander, which had faded to nothing after meeting Buffy, and then by dating Oz. After Oz left, Willow had contemplated telling Buffy the truth, but by then, she was already with Riley and Willow didn?t want to risk the friendship that was the cornerstone of her life.

But it was the love she felt for Buffy that allowed her to know that the man standing in front of her was, indeed, the woman she loved. ?B? Buffy? Oh Goddess, you?re ok!? Willow ran to her and threw her arms around Buffy?s waist, relief washing over her in waves. ?What happened? I mean you?re a guy! But I guess you already knew that.?

Buffy returned the hug, relishing the feel of her friend?s soft curves pressed against her body. She felt a jolt of? something? rush through her and settle into her groin area. ?What the??? She felt a stirring between her legs, and realized that this body she was in was reacting to her friends embrace in a potentially embarrassing way. ?How do guys deal with this thing?? she thought as she gently disengaged from Willow and sat back down on the couch, immediately crossing her legs in hopes of hiding her body?s reaction.

?Hey, Will. Long story, but how did you know it was me? Could have been a bit embarrassing if you were wrong, you know.?

Willow sat beside her and, grasping her hand, told her, ?Your eyes. I mean, yeah, you obviously look different, but your eyes are exactly the same.? She blushed a bit, ducking her head while hoping her friend wouldn?t ask her why she was noticing her eyes.

Buffy caught the blush, and a slight smile crept over her face. ?Oh, well, if anything like this ever happens again, I?ll find you first.? She smiled at Willow, and began her story again as Giles went to the kitchen to prepare tea for his guests.
