OT: SMG kisses girls, again!

Or, "Daphne Loves Velma".

According to an E!Online report, the upcoming "Scooby-Doo" movie could
feature a steamy kiss between Sarah Michelle Gellar's character, Daphne,
and Linda Cardellini's Velma. But the kiss, while it was filmed, will
most likely be edited out as too racy for the PG-rated flick.

(Wouldn't bet against it showing up on the DVD, though. BTW, the kiss
is motivated by the plot, not a romance--it's those darn ghosts, or
something!)

So that makes three f/f liplocks for SMG, after the "Cruel Intentions"
kiss with Selma Blair and her "Grosse Pointe" smooch with Lindsay
Sloane. (All three with shy, vulnerable characters, BTW) So, clearly,
even when costarring with fiance Freddie Prinze, Jr., she doesn't mind
doing a little fem-fun.  

I never thought Sarah would kill a potential Buffy/Willow storyline
because she didn't want to get typecast as lesbian (she always seemed
too fond of the idea of herself as An Actress to kill stories for the
sake of her image), and the fact that she's willing to keep doing
girl-kisses in films seems to bear that theory out. Joss or UPN might
still have a few qualms about whether a B/W story would make the series
be pigeonholed as "a gay show", but more and more I feel that if they
want to do it, they'll do it.

Aside from that, as any Scooby Doo fan knows, kissing Velma is about as
close to kissing Willow as you can get.  

Practice makes perfect, I always say :)
