Never say "never". I wonder how much money you could have made, early
in Season 3, when Willow was juggling two separate guys, if you'd
started betting folks that in a little more than a year she'd be in a
lesbian relationship? People would have called for the men in the white
coats.
And as far as the lead character getting a plot like that, well
somebody's got to be first. We've got gay and lesbian leads on sitcoms
(including a perrential Top-10 show), all-gay cable dramas, gay and
lesbian supporting characters on dramas all over the dial?is the first
US non-cable drama lead such a huge jump, after all? On a notably
gay-friendly show, with an actress who has done f/f roles three other
times, playing a character whose entire story has been written as a
metaphor for gay youth, where the woman in charge was raised by her gay
mother? All I can say is, if it's going to happen, this seems like a
likelier candidate for it than "J.A.G."?
Ah, well, we're either ahead of the curve or round the bend?
