FIC: THHGTS (4/5)
thanks all for your feedback on the previous episodes, especially dan, it has been much appreciated :)
here's the next installment, this episode sacrifices some humour in favour of a plot that twists so much it ends up in a knot. as a result i think its the weakest of the episodes, but i'd still be interested to hear your opinions. :)

Episode 4
And now for the cliffhanger:
The front door burst open and tumbling in out of the rain came another girl, who I can tell you now is seventeen years of age. Without hesitation she made her way towards Willow, and on reaching her grabbed her into a fierce hug. After she was done with Willow, she turned and did exactly the same toBuffy. Now with the two slayers completely bemused and Giles and Joyce notfar behind, the new arrival decided to introduce herself.
"I'm Faith." She then turned to face Willow. "Your daughter."
Now that the pesky cliffhanger is out of the way, we can continue with today's episode.
All Faith received in return for her revelation was some rather blank stares.
"From the future..." she continued as if this should all be obvious. More blank stares. Faith sighed before a metaphorical light bulb switched on above her head. She reached into her jacket pocket and pulled out a slightly crumpled letter and passed it to Willow. As Willow read the letter, the otheroccupants of the room looked at her expectantly. When she was done, she looked up with a satisfied smile on her face and proceeded to explain to the others just what the what was.
"She's my daughter from the future." Buffy, Giles and Joyce all nodded their heads as if it had all been made clear now. Faith just shook her head, amused.
"So what brings you to the past?" ventured Giles.
"This mad-scientist gave us this time machine as a thank you for something,I'm not entirely sure what, but my whole life I've been brought up knowingabout my future because I go back in time and watch myself grow up... so Iwas there to tell me all about what was going to happen, and now as I get to watch myself grow up I'll remember what I did in the future and be able to see it all from a whole different perspective," Faith replied with a beaming smile. Buffy took her head into her hands and shook it. After a couplemore tries she brought her head back up.
"It's no use, I'm still confused."
"Aww, there there," Willow comforted her as she patted the top of her head.
"Not helping." Willow stuck out her tongue. "Don't wave that thing around unless you intend to use it..." Buffy trailed off as Willow showed her that she had intended to use it all along.
"Nothing like proof that your parents were young once too." This caused both Buffy and Willow to cease their French liaison and look at Faith.
"Did you say parents?" Buffy asked, stressing the plural.
"Sure... you two are my parents... and" she looked at Giles and Joyce "you guys are like my grandparents."
"You mean we" Buffy gestured to herself and Willow "are still together in seventeen years time?" she asked her heart soaring with hope.
"How did you know I was seventeen?"
"The narrator told me."
"Oh, okay. Anyways, yes, you two are still together in seventeen years." This new information made Buffy's heart leap and she started planting kisses all the way down Willow's neck to such an extent that Willow was starting to lose all sense of her surroundings, until Buffy suddenly stopped and looked at Faith.
"Hang on, there's one thing I don't buy. You said I was like your parent right?" Faith nodded. "Well there is no way I would let any daughter of mine out of the house wearing trousers like those." Faith smirked as she looked down at her exceptionally form fitting black leather trousers.
"What can I say? I'm wilful. And besides, I need to make an impression on my girlfriend."
"Girlfriend?"
"Yeah, the other reason I'm here... you know the prochecy thing... four slayers shall dine at Giles' house? Well I'm number three and number four is the girl who is gonna be my girlfriend"
"You're a slayer?" Faith nodded, disinterested.
"Doesn't mean nothing though, there's no vamps in the future."
"What?? How come??" Giles and Buffy asked in unison.
"It was your idea," she pointed at Giles. "Or was it Oliver's? I can't remember what it was though, never seemed important." Giles just sighed one of his long-suffering sighs. It was then quiet in the room until Giles spoke up again.
"I don't suppose you know when the fourth slayer is going to get here?" Faith looked at her watch and then suddenly jumped up and ran over to the door. She paused as she got there, and waited a couple of seconds before mouthing a five-second countdown. As she reached zero, she pulled open the door to reveal another girl, blonde, maybe slightly younger than herself with herhand raised as if she had been about to knock before the door had been opened for her.
"Hi, I'm Faith, I'm from the future and in the future you're my girlfriend, and if you want proof you have a tattoo of a you-know-what on your you-know-what," she said as she winked suggestively. The girl stood there slightlyoverwhelmed by the new information, but she didn't stay that way as Faith claimed her lips. She stood there for a second even more bewildered, until she shrugged her shoulders and started kissing back. When the two finally broke apart they realised the whole room was looking at them. The new girl looked around a little sheepishly before mumbling
"Hey, why fight the future?" which caused Faith to grin and start speaking again
"Everyone, I'd like to introduce my new girlfriend Tara."
How has Tara got to Giles' house?
Why are there now a total of four slayers at Giles' house?
And what are they all going to have for dinner?
All this and more, next time, on the Hitch Hiker's Guide To Sunnydale.
