Dan,
He probably knew about Season 4 birthday because Giles
was turned into a demon. Season 5 birthday was Dawn
finding out she was the key, and I think from Spike. 
Season 2 was Angel turning into Angelus, and I forget
season three or one's birthdays for that matter. 

yes warren is a much better villian...hell so are
Jonathan and Andrew and they are just lackeys. I
actually liked Tara ripping on Spike in the birthday
episode. That was just great.

I just think that Buffy has some weird connection and
well can't really go to her friends and can only turn
to the undead. Though I think the only undead person
who truly deserves their soul intact is Angel...though
if you saw last nights Angel episode, it scared he
scared the hell out of me.
