Okay, that's it.

We need Giles back on the show now, because ASH has clearly gone round
the bend. Probably had a mad cow burger or something, so we have to get
him back to the States, where he can have nice, healthy, Doublemeat
Medleys (Mmm, "meat process").

Anyway, now that Buffy's had her epiphany, the reason for Giles's
absence is obviated, right? So, logically, he should pop right back up.
