TOS was excellent, but it was bogged down by the special effects
technology at the time (or at least it seems so in retrospect). TNG
was great, and after the first couple of years it actually had the
technology it needed to look good. Enterprise is the best of both
worlds; it has the real, pioneering, uncharted territory feel of TOS
and the special effects of TNG. Oh - and it works well with the
formula (all Star Treks follow the formula, you know it. Some just
don't really mesh with it very well).
