So Eden sank to grief, So dawn goes down to day.

I still don't see this, Dan, and I don't think it's just willful
blindness on my part. I mean, I saw B/S coming miles away and heaven
knows that ain't something i'd ever want to see. However, I shall
keep an open mind on this B/X idea and give you props should it come
to pass. (Right before I curse your name for jinxing things.)

okay, clarification: I wasn't really "blaming" JC for anything. I
think my words might have read snarky, but any such snarkiness really
wasn't directed at JC; it was at the writer. I only meant to convey
that it just so happens that JC, once again, directed an ep with
Lonely Brokenhearts oh-so-meaningfully-and-dramatically going off in
different directions. If anything, I think I'd have to give props to
JC for not going over the top and trying to force a melodramatic
overhead shot.

Absolutely. But as I pointed out in another post, I'd also like ME or
Buffy & Willow or someone to make up their damn minds. You can't have
Will (& Xander) happily falala leaving Dawn at home to go on a
ROUTINE patrol one week (something they haven't done in, like,
MONTHS), then have Will staying at home the next in the midst of a big
Scooby-blowout involving her lifelong best friend toting an ax.
Moreover, apparently the shooting script confirmed that Will did, in
fact, figure the B/S thing out at the same time Dawn did... so now I'm
even more frustrated. The lounging about in bed is just the crusty,
bitter icing on an already nasty cake.

[snip] I like that idea, Dan. Beyond showing that Tara's calm was
simply her way of trying to be strong, it would have somewhat lessened
the problem of not having had much, if any, arc development for
several months (because then you'd be adding a couple more beats to
the story). Plus, it would have maintained the "Tara is the most
mature Scooby EVER" motif because she would not have seemed to be
summarily and precipitously handing over her spine. The only problem
I can see with it is the "emotional blackmail" interpretation. Once
Will had an outburst, chopping off her hand wouldn't have been enough
to convince some people of her contriteness. :-P

Ooh, ooh, but let me say something about the preternatural Earth
Motherness. Didja notice that Makeup backed WAAAAAAAAY off on that
and didn't style Tara as if she's nearing 40? Her hair was soft and
casual, her makeup light. That was refreshing.
