Also, it's a general rule that many, many more people are interested in
the fics than just those few who send fb (or vote in polls). After all,
why are they on the list, otherwise?

29 votes actually sounds like what passes for a heavy response... (tries
to remember if he voted...)

So don't hold the quiet against us. And, list, see what happens when
you're quiet? More feedback means more fics! (And, authors, more fics
mean more feedback, so everybody wins.)

More feedback! More fics! More medication! (oh, wait, that's just for
me. Sorry.)

Alex (And Dan)

As a relatively new author I agree with what Dan has said. So far I
have (luckily) only had good feedback from everyone on and off the list
(fanfiction.net included) but the result of the FB is nowhere near ther
1029+ people of the list, which would lead me to think maybe only those
who have FB'd my story have read it, but every now and then someone new
pops his head in and says something, and every time it happens there's a
little smile on my face because someone else tells me 'I dun good!' FB
is the lifeblood of us writey types, and yes more FB means more and
better and more oftener stories, which as Dan says, only benefits
everyone. But don't think because only 29 out of 1029 people polled (I
did) you only have 29 avid readers, there may be hundreds who'll never
say anything cos they're too embarrassed or simply prefer to lurk
innocuously in the shadows. I for one know it was an Alex P. story which
helped me to become a ficcer, so anyone who likes my story in the least
has 'him' partially to thank for it.
