I agree with Ivy's point it does se to be saying that if your gay your
either going to die or your are an evil person. I can't believe they
couldn't have continued their original story line and just wound Tara. 

I know she isn't my favorite character on the show, but I was encouraged
when the writers finally had the courage to show a loving gay
relationship without all the normal TV back pedalling and disclaimers. 
Now they have gone and ruined that by killing Tara off. I have to wonder
if they couldn't have gotten the same results if they'd just severely
wounded her. Now unless they plan on having Willow and Buffy become very
close or have her come to her senses on her own. 

It's either that or their planning on turning her into the Big Bad
without any possibility of redemption of any kind. In other words if
you're gay you haven't got a chance of being redeemed, your just
destined to be evil. 

I could be wrong and I could be the only one that feels this way. I was
so totally shocked at the way they killed Tara as a senseless accident,
and not at least have her go down fighting for the greater good so to
speak. I doubt if Willow's grief would have been any less.

Of course this is just my own humble opinion, and it wouldn't be the
first time I totally misjudged the direction of the show.
