Yes, Xander has been in a cast before. When he broke his right wrist in
"Becoming, Part 1", he wore a cast in Part 2. When Olaf broke the wrist
again in "Triangle", he wore the cast for "Checkpoint" and "Blood Ties".

As for the punch, presumably he's learned to roll with them over the
years.

And while I'm sorry to hear of the prevalent gunplay in Phoen's
neighborhood, Revello Drive has always been portrayed as a quiet
residential street. Remember, these kids walk everywhere, which they
wouldn't do with rampant gunplay. I'm pretty sure those were the first
bullets fired there in years, and whether Willow and Tara would have
reacted swiftly enough to duck or not, they should have at least
reacted, since the previous shots were quite audible. Credibility-wise,
I would have had no problem with Tara rushing to the window to see what
was happening and catching a stray slug as a consequence.
