OT: Recent Statements [Some SPOILER]
Okay, things to start with.
Jolie: The statement about Prozac was meant as a joke. I have a very
sarcastic sense of humor, and it was just to poke a little fun at the
use of all caps at the end of your post. This is a long-time complaint
I've had about e-mail; tone of voice is almost impossible to get across.
It was not meant to be derogatory. I am sorry if you interpreted it as
such.
Alnisa: Wow. Love the Oz/Tara comparison. Glad someone looked at it from
that angle, and sorry I overlooked it originally. Thank you. Just to add
one other point: If the show had stayed on the WB instead of UPN, do you
think we would have seen the W/T relationship develop as much as it did?
The WB probably would have asked Joss to break them up sooner... like at
the beginning of S6.
Kimber: You're alive! It's a miracle (if you can't hear the sarcasm,
stop reading)! Hope life isn't mistreating you too badly.
Okay, here's where I need to drop a little spoiler space.

Everyone is saying how Willow is going to go full-out evil now that Tara
is dead, and that ME is handling this poorly due to the fact that
lesbian lovers are involved. Let's go back to the beginning of S6. We
see Willow on top of a mausoleum, directing the Scoobs via telepathy.
Her dark side took center stage in late S5, when she broke out the book
of darkest magic to get revenge for Tara. After Tara was saved, Buffy
died. Did Willow let up on the dark magic? Nope. In "After Life," Willow
decides that the spell she and Tara are doing is ineffective and says
one word: "Solid." That was the use of dark magick to save [insert drum
roll] Buffy. The spell in "Tabula Rasa," though with a HUGE selfish
component, was to 'help' Tara and Buffy forget all the bad things that
had happened. Willow has tapped into the well of darkness just as often
for Buffy as she has for Tara. What we never got to see was how Willow
was during the summer between S5 and S6; who knows what she was REALLY
up to. Maybe that is when Tara started seeing the rise in darker
magicks; the comics may touch on that (they're currently dealing with
that summer in a 3 issue arc).
As for Giles' minor rampage after Angel killed Jenny, I tend to feel he
was in full Ripper mode. The comment Angelus made was what knocked him
back down to the level of vengeful lover - Ripper is too cold and
calculating to let his emotions slip him up. Giles would have just sent
a piece of wood through the vampire's heart; Ripper wanted him to
suffer.
I'm wondering why no one commented on the other things I said after the
sig on the last post, but, oh well. Maybe this will bring out a few more
comments.
As always,
Phoen Dusk
