...........Someone's gotta do it.. :)
As someone who this has happened to..(posting spoilers
of the wrong nature under a heading of an equally wrong nature at the
wrong time etc etc.. :P) I think the rules are so complicated that
it's almost hard to get them right. That is not to say I think the
rules are bad. In fact, if they worked, they would be fabulous. The
problem lies in the fact that no matter how hard you (as moderator)
try, someone is going to make a mistake..and then everyone pounces on
it. How embarrassing..someone makes a mistake and it becomes a huge
list debate. EEK! Not fun.
Now..I fully understand not wanting to be
spoiled..(though I LOVE to be spoiled) For those of you who are
actually patient enough to wait for the episodes, hats off to you.. ;)
Something does need to be done so y'all don't end up royally spoiled.
But, please don't ban spoilers..some of our best
conversations come out of spoilers. Keep the spoiler space for all
spoilers, of any kind. Keep your system, because I think changing it
now would make it worse than it is. Not only would you have your
newbies making mistakes and contaminating the unspoiled, the people
who fully understand the rules as they are now would have to learn a
whole new concept. :P And..it's complicated enough as it is.
Or..we could have mandatory headers for certain types
of spoilers, so that spoiling doesn't happen in the headers..(like I
nearly did) For example, anything before the current ep could be
called "general spoilers" in the header, and then before the spoiler
space, just to be safe, the person could outline which eps etc they
would like to talk about. The current ep could be "Seeing Red"
(example) Your suggestions in number 2 of your little list would work
here..*shrug* Anything after the current ep could be "future
spoilers" and once again, before the spoiler space, mention which eps
you will be talking about..(in a non spoilery way ;)
Or..you could just ignore everything I just said.. ;)
Yak, yak yak! *grin*
