Brilliant stuff, Cas! I love your theory, but, due to a "Seeing Red"

Fantastic idea. So much feeds in here: Giles leaving when she needs
him the most (and "for her own good"), Dawn being a total brat, her
getting the worst job possible, Riley's Wife-o-Matic 5000 being so
darned perfect-upon-perfect. And just when Buffy gathers the strength
to break through her torment and reconnect however slightly with Willow
and Xander, her tortured mind creates more horrors, and Warren starts
spraying hot lead.
Besides, perhaps the Asylumverse was Buffy's mind's way of trying to
tell her that she really wasn't in heaven, after all. And didn't Sweet,
who wanted to "see the Slayer burn" say he came from "the imagination"?
It's her imagination that's been burning her all along, that's what hell
is, you make your own torment.
Plus, this way Marti can yakyakyak about a Big Scooby Death for ten
months, kill Tara, and yet bring her back, and fake us all out without
any resurrection or anything. That would be an excuse for the
hellacious spoilage, if the plot itself is just a fakeout. Likewise,
this would explain the random stupidity of Tara's death (Buffy's mind
wants to torment itself, so it kills someone, but even in hell, she
can't imagine Willow, Xander or Dawn dying, so the bullet finds Tara
with no rhyme, reason, or believable physics involved).
Dan
liking this as much as any silly theory since the time he became
convinced that Tara was actually a magical manifestation of Willow's
surpressed desires, a left-over effect of the "my will be done" spell in
"Something Blue", right before Tara popped up in "Hush". Actually, I'm
still holding out for that one...
