Don't forget --- Oz didn't come back for quite a while ... Faith was 
in a coma for 8 months! ... and Riley - ugh! doesn't matter - he'll 
be boring no matter what. Angel returned, too (after a hundred years 
in hell and a few episodes in our time). Joyce came back (sort of). 
And, just this season, Buffy returned from the dead after 3 months.

Just because we know that Tara is dead now and hasn't returned yet (a 
week later), doesn't mean we won't see her again.
