ROAD TRIP (13/?)
"It seems so quiet," Willow whispered, not wanting to disturb the
tranquility
by speaking too loudly.
"It's nice," Buffy said softly, her hazel eyes scanning the ocean. They had
been sitting on the beach for nearly half an hour, just listening to the
ocean and watching the shadowy waves. If she had to think of only one word
to
describe how she felt at the moment it would have to be peaceful. Happy was
another that came to mind. Sitting on a deserted beach, the soft sound of
the
waves, Willow beside her...yeah, happy was definitely on the top of the
list.
"Kind of spooky too, but in a good way," Willow said, glancing at her
friend's profile, bathed in moonlight. "Did that make any sense?"
"I always understand you, Will," Buffy said with a soft smile. "And you're
right. It is sort of scary. There is hardly any light and the water is so
dark."
"Yeah," Willow said as she leaned back on her elbows, her eyes moving to
watch the water. "I can see our hotel from here."
Buffy looked at her friend, seeing that Willow had her head upside down,
looking at the cliff behind them. "I almost hate the idea of having to
climb
back up. I'm so relaxed that my body feels like jelly."
"Jelly?" Willow looked up, getting a bit dizzy staring at the upside down
hotel. "So, your body feels squishy and gooey?"
"Okay, yuck," Buffy wrinkled her nose, "maybe jelly isn't the right word."
"I understand what you mean," Willow laughed, echoing Buffy's earlier words
as she continued, "I always understand you, Buffy."
"I know you do," Buffy looked away, wanting to add that that was yet
another
reason she loved her so much. Instead, she looked down the beach, finding
it
odd to be outside, at night, relaxing, not worrying about demons or
slaying.
She voiced her thoughts, "I can't believe I'm at the beach, at night, and
I'm
not looking for some demon or vampire."
"You're gonna get spoiled," Willow said with a smile. "When we make it to
Seattle, we may have to do some impromptu slaying so you don't get lazy.
You
know, keep you alert and in shape."
Buffy glared at Willow in the darkness before a mischievous smile crossed
her
pretty face, "Lazy huh? In shape?"
Willow looked over and noticed that Buffy was moving towards her, "Buffy,
what are you doing?"
"I'll show you lazy, little girl," Buffy said before pouncing.
Willow squealed, getting to her feet before Buffy could grab her. With a
laugh, she started off down the beach, the slaying chasing after her.
