Re: OT: from mudrat

Mudrat,

Well, I'm afraid I'm a few years late for "30 therapy". Would grumble
more about my advancing years, but we had a survey a few months ago, and
while I'm older than a lot of folks, I'm younger than some, so it'd be
gauche.

Thanks for the birthday wishes, though.

And of course she's my Willow. And yours, and all of ours. "We are all
Willow, but we are also all Cordelia" says Joss on the Season 1 DVDs.
(So we are all psychotic murderers, and we are also all bland,
platitude-spewing demons with godawful hair? Oops, still got a hate on
for Joss, there.) Anyway, Willow speaks to some fundamental part of
each of us, connecting us to our greater humanity, forgiving Xander,
Cordelia, Oz, Jenny, Giles, Angel, Amy, Riley, Dawn, Tara and (many,
many times) Buffy. She gives Angel back his soul after he slaughters
her hero, doesn't want Buffy to kill Faith after Faith was seconds away
from slaughtering Willow herself, insists on saving Spike from suicide
because she can't bear to see anyone in pain, and can't even think of
killing Ben to stop Glory. She always tries to see the best in
everything, whether it's rooting on a Buffy/Angel romance she knows has
no chance, hoping that when Buffy found Giles drinking it was "tea?", or
finding a way to sympathize with Buffy and understand her affair with
Spike. She loves Oz when he's wolfy, and Tara even if she's a demon (or
brainsucked) --

Oh, wait, she's a powerhungry bitch with no morals, who has always
resented Buffy, can't stand Shiny McWhiny (the same girl whose side she
constantly took in Season 5) and uses magic to fix her life because
she's immature and needs to "grow up". Bite me, Joss. (**That**
Willow, you're welcome to.)

Dan

Unable to reply to simple birthday greeting without at least sampling a
little bit o' bitter.
