As for Giles, The council was rarely mentioned in the first several 
season's of the show. And while I doubt this was the intent, I 
started to imagine the council as only providing monitoring for the 
slayer and only pretending to provide support. So I wondered what 
would happen if Giles loyalty was to be tested earlier on.

As for Cordy, I like her, but I plan on taking her through her own 
little hell to self discovery :-)
