her necklace. But the Fates are not happy with her tampering with the 
tapestry of the multiverse.

Chap 0: Disruptions in the proper flow of reality



The Entity was bored.

It had been at its post for eons. 

Monitoring. 

Watching. 

Boring.

How it wished for something to change.

Which was why the Entity was intrigued when it detected the first disturbance 
in a single time thread and did not isolate it, as he should have, but 
instead first decided to observe it.

Intrigue turned to surprise when it examined the time line and saw how 
extreme a disruption it was. 

The surprise turned to alarm as it observed how this disturbance was 
repeating in many other time streams nearby. **Uh OH** An infection? The time 
lines were not supposed to be alterable in this fashion! What to do? Oh, 
Yes..

"Isolate and contain all altered time lines," it commanded. The lines 
shifted apart forming two groups. Those time lines that had been unaffected 
and those that had been 'infected' as he thought of the other group.

The other rather large group. 

Oh sure it was not as large as the unaffected group, but still that was the 
problem with an infinite number of universe. Even a billion universes is 
small in comparison.

**Damn!**

The Entity thought for a while. A disruption this large would necessitate 
some correction but that would take a large expenditure of time and 
resources. Better to advise his superiors of this development.

A second Entity appeared at his summons, "What has happened?"

The first Entity explained the disruption and the startling affect it had had 
on the nearby time lines.

"Where did the disturbance originate," Entity #2 asked. A single time line 
moved to the front. As the two beings began to focus in on the event that 
had so dramatically altered its own time stream no to mention so many others, 
a second disruption occurred. Fascinated, they watched as the alterations 
were undone and the time line reset to its normal flow. The other time 
streams followed in the same fashion resetting themselves back to their 
original states. 

"Have they all been corrected?" asked Entity #1 as the second Entity examined 
the details of the differing time streams.

"Not completely," replied #2. "There is a residue present in all affected 
streams. I do not believe that all events that are now present as time 
stream deviation points are correct. An intervention will be required for 
inspection and correction of all time threads."

"Who?" queried #1. 

"Well, I believe that I can do it," answered #2,"however it would require-"

"No" interrupted a quite voice as a third Entity appeared. "We are not 
allowed to enter into the time threads."

"But the damages require some form of action on our part," stated #2.

"Yes," replied #3,"but not in the manner you have suggested. I can see only 
a few paths that will result in a minimum of disruption. In a short while, 
the creature that produced this disruption will attempt another and in doing 
so, will bring to us the means to correct these problems. We must be ready 
to act when needed."

"What shall we do until then?" asked #2.

"You can monitor for the next disruption. When it occurs, you are to watch 
what it does, track it and summon us. It will try to contact that," #3 said 
pointing at an odd shadow of a thread time line. 

Entity #3 turned to the first Entity and for the first time let some of his 
anger leak through. "Your delay in the isolation of this disruption was 
responsible for the large number of lines affected!"

Entity #1 acknowledged his guilt. "I accept my responsibility and offer 
myself up for punishment."

"Ha!" said #3 "And let you out of helping to fix this mess. No. You are to 
begin a time line inspection and record ALL deviations, no matter how minor, 
from this line," he indicated the original thread. "Additionally, you are to 
inspect for those time deviation points which have been changed and determine 
which can and cannot be altered. We will have to make corrections to bring 
as many of these lines back on track to their original destinies as possible. 
Those that cannot be corrected will have to be eliminated." With that, #3 
vanished.

The first Entity looked at #2 who was concentrating on the multitude of time 
lines and ignoring him. **Oh great, demoted from boring to tedious. 'Be 
careful what you wish for' I suppose. Still could have been worse. I had 
better get started. Let's see... Universe #8990333..."
