Re: OT: Season 3 DVDs

Actually, it's a little quicker than that. Remember, the reason the
DVDs hadn't been released in the US before now was because of the deal
Fox made to syndicate the episodes on its affiliated stations. This
meant that they couldn't sell Season 1 DVDs until "Prophecy Girl" aired
in syndication. It aired in mid-December, and Season 1 went on sale
January 15th.

I then said to myself, "self, this probably means that since there were
22 episodes in Season 2, those DVDs will be on sale in mid-June, about a
month after the weekend syndicated eps play 'Becoming, Part 2'." As it
turns out, the S2 DVDs actually hit the stores 21 weeks after the S1,
not 22. "Inca Mummy Girl" played the week the Season 1 discs went out,
but "Beauty and the Beasts" was on today; the discs went on sale during
the week they played ep 3.3, not 3.4.

So, if they take a 22 week pause before putting out the Season 3 discs,
that's Tuesday, November 12th. But really, they can release the DVDs
any time after "Graduation Day, Part 2" airs on the weekend of October
19th-20th. I suppose they might think of holding Season 3 back a bit
for Christmas, though, but given that the "BtVS" fandom are first-day
buyers, largely, I don't know that they'd see any profit in such a
delay.

Hope that made sense,

Dan
