As for programs, I use one for cutting clips called VideoWave. I 
really enjoy this program because it allows you to move the video 
frame by frame so you can cut your clips exactly where you want them 
without any extra footage being tagged on.

For videos that are being synched witht he music in a specific way 
I'd suggest another program I use called ULead Media Studio. I 
generally cut and produce my clips in VideoWave and then move them 
into Ulead to place them in synch with the music.

If you need either of these programs, let me know and I'll email you 
the information you'll need to download them from me as they're too 
big to fit in an email. About 50 megs each or so.
