Hmm. Well, I've stopped watching the WWF (yeah, yeah, name change, not
buying it), but anyone familiar with their history knows they're not
exactly the place to look for gay-positive messages. If you're old
enough, you can remember "Adorable" Adrian Adonis, and even though they
backed out of making the "Goldust" character openly gay (by hiring his
wife, too), they layered on the "drag queen" image, which included
flirting with the other (male) wrestlers.

Now "Billy Gunn" is almost certainly not gay. He's perceived in the
wrestling fandom as a hack who keeps getting pushed because he's
well-connected in the head office, and I'm sure this is just their
latest attempt to find a storyline to justify his airtime.

Of course, not so long ago, getting hired by the WWF involved getting
"well-connected" with Pat Patterson, but those days are (allegedly)
gone. Still, who knows?
