Re: FIC: Filling in the Gaps pt3 NC-17

Memo from: Dept. of Horses (Dead, Beating of)

To: Red Willow

RW,

I hate to keep sending in the same review, but here I am again--"Buffy
and Willow were sweet, the sex was hot, and I want to slap Tara. Hard."
Plus ça change, and all that.

Now I'm perfectly fine with Tara responding her breakup with Willow by
going out and finding some new girls, enjoying the wilder side of life
with multiple partners. (Although I think it would get a little lonely,
since no matter how "welcome" she is, she's always a guest. At the end
of the day, everybody has someone to go home with, except Tara :( ) But
everytime she feels hurt by B/W's affection or goes on about her own
Buffy lust (and every time she fails to notice the hypocrisy implicit in
those two concepts) well, it really grates my cheese.

Tara's shocked and somewhat hurt (one of the crowd asks if she's okay)
that B/W are doing it up against the wall of her girlfriends' apartment?
Gee, Tara, then imagine how Willow would have felt if you had taken away
the one thing Willow had in her life, if everytime Willow came back to
the very house she lived in, she had to realize that her housemate and
best friend (and longtime secret love) had chosen you, her ex, over her.
Talk about exes invading each other's personal space--that would have
been a hundred times worse than Willow scraping up against your
lust-bunny's apartment wall.

Tara's mostly hurt because of her "thing for Buffy", not the "occasional
lingering feeling for Willow"? Gee, nice to know that you were so in
love with the girl; I really feel bad about your breakup now.

So in other words, Tara, that Buffy liaison you're hoping for wouldn't
just be your saying "I'm sorry, Willow; you know I'll always care for
you, but we both have to move on. And Buffy's good for me; I'm just
sorry if it hurts you." No, rather what you'd be saying was "God, I'm
so glad we broke up! I like Buffy much more than I ever liked you, you
loser! And we go to all these amazing orgies, instead of that vanilla
crap you made me yawn through. Face facts, geek--I'm so sexy that even
your so-called 'best friend' likes me better than she likes you. Worm."
(Dialogue courtesy of the Cordelia Chase Academy of Quality Bitchery.)

Tara's simultaneous martyr complex and her complete on-going disrespect
for Willow's feelings (and her complete dismissal of the W/T
relationship) are truly setting my teeth on edge, I have to say.

Which is not to say that this fic isn't well-written and hightly
erotic--after all, who knows, maybe you want me to be disliking Tara
so. (I certainly don't need much provocation for that, I admit.)

So I'm enjoying the fic, but I'm feeling very protective of Willow and
very angry at anyone who would hurt her for their own selfish pleasure.
(Yeah, I'm looking at you, T. Maclay...)

Kind of like Buffy, when you think of it :)

Dan

wondering if this means that he should run out and buy himself a size 0
slip-top and some stylish-yet-affordable boots
