Re: Marti, Cas, and B/W--micro-SPOILER

Not even borrowing with the spacing, but touching (very slightly) on a
future plot with regard to this.

It seems that Marti, in referencing Cas's B/W friendship question back
to the earlier Willow redemption question (and her sarcastic answer:
"In episode 1, [Willow] buys everybody an ice-blended mocha and they all
love her again and they make her mayor") is simply referring to the
early-season Willow-centric ep (not ep 1) where Willow finds everything
a bit more difficult than that.

She did not seem to understand (or else she chose to skim over) the fact
the question was more about the season-long B/W relationship, and
whether it would return to the high school closeness instead of being in
the "I don't hate you, but whatever makes you think I'd want to talk to
you?" vein of Season 6 (and, arguably, S5 before it). All we know is
that Willow will have a little bit of angst to start the year (well,
duh!). Whether it will continue past the early Willow ep, and whether
we can expect any substantial rebuilding of B/W, Marti ignored those
questions.

IMO, either she doesn't think that there's been anything wrong with B/W
until Willow drank the dark magic, or there's something in the works she
doesn't want to talk about, or she's too stupid to understand that the
question was about more than an initial awkwardness. All of these seem
possible.

(Well, except the middle one, because that would basically be Joss and
Marti admitting that they've run the show into the ground these past few
years, so God forbid they should ever bring back an element [friendship,
treating Xander as a serious character, evil vampires and demons] that
conflicts with their little "Party of Five" world).

Dan

still good with the bitter.

PS--anyone else puke when Marti said (in reference to Buffy not
apologizing for beating up Spike in "Dead Things") "I think the nature
of their relationship was violent by turns. ... So nobody owes anybody
big apologies"?

Gee, so Spike DOESN'T have to apologize for the rape then, huh? What
lovely, female-empowering, television this is! This, combined with
Marti's reaction to the question about Spuffy, v.2.0 ("what do you
think?", ie, "DUH!!"), pretty much seals the deal, IMO. I only regret
having pledged to tear the premiere apart for the anti-Spuffy list,
otherwise I could walk away with a clean conscience. Okay, maybe I'll
watch the Willow ep, too.
