Re: Re: OT: Murder, morality, etc.
Kathy, Jolie,
Yes, they chose juicy material for a story, but that still doesn't
excuse the awful construction, execution [npi], and message of the
story, IMO.
(Not specifically talking about Willow's vigilantism here, but how it
played in the wider context of the season. I mean, how convenient for
Spike and his defenders that his crimes happen just when a) sweet,
innocent Willow goes psychotic and b) it's heavily slanted so that the
audience will think it's okay for her to do bad things because she was
upset. Like Spike was...)
(As I said before, I'm worried that the entire point of Willow's
multi-season arc is to give Spike an excuse for his past actions and
Spuffy an ultimate blessing. [I would give an example of Buffy's
hypothetical "forgiveness" speech here, but the thought is making me
gag, so...moving on.])
Btw, Jolie, mentioning the content of Spoiler pics is (you guessed it) a
Spoiler. Please give appropriate warnings and spacing.
That said, I don't think it's a very big deal. Pics and such can
obviously be misleading. My favorite example was the promo for "New
Moon Rising", where the WB went to extremes to make Tara blowing out the
candle look sinister. (I guess they anticipated her blowing the powder
in "Family", now that I think of it.)
Still, be careful.
Thanks,
Dan
