Jolie,
The article praised the Yellow Crayon Scene, without noting that Xander
was employed as a Christ figure therein. They merely focused on the
humble man submitting himself to pain, and healing the crazy
nonbelieving Jewlesbowitch with simple love. No mention of Xander's
anvilicious reference to himself as a "carpenter" was contained
therein--I merely used the wider comment on this scene to exemplify why
Hertz's enjoyment of it came as no surprise to me. I regret that I
didn't make this clearer.
Such a silly idea, anyway. Xander isn't Jesus, everyone knows that.
**Buffy** is Jesus, of course. (Dies to save the world and is
resurrected, etc., etc.--theses and dissertations have been written on
this.)
Perhaps, since we know Xander=Joss, the Xander=Jesus imagery in "Grave"
was Fury pulling the ultimate suck-up job? The ep itself was the
ultimate SUCK job, IMO, so that seems to fit :)
