well. The majority of vampires I remember from BtVS and Angel have a strong
sense of their own self-preservation. As Spike said in 'Becoming Part 2'
(back when he was still a cool villain instead of a Lestat-wannabe), "Me, I
like the world. It's got Manchester United, the Love Boat, and people.
Billions of them, walking around like happy meals with legs.' The Master in
'The Wish' didn't want to end the world, but to enslave humanity to make it
easier to harvest their blood for vampire's use.
Vampires tend to be more interested in conquest than in destruction. The
demons that Buffy fights are more destructive; the Hellmouth demons, the
Sisterhood of the Jhi, Glory, they were more interested in destroying. At
least that's my impression.
