"Hey Xander wait up", Buffy yelled and ran to catch up with
him, "Where ya headed".
"I don't know I was going to try and find Willow but I wouldn't even
know where to begin, so I thought I would just wonder around".
"Well why don't we wonder to my house. Mom told me this morning to
bring you to dinner, I think she is cooking chicken."
"How could I pass up on that? We can work on that math assignment
too". Buffy groaned, "I so hate math". Xander laughed at the blonde.
"You should do that more often, you know", Buffy told him.
"Do what, laugh", Xander said and seeing Buffy nod continued, " I
haven't had a lot to laugh about lately, that is till you got here."
"So do you have a girlfriend", Buffy asked him.
"Me no, the girls don't usually fall for the geeks. All I have is a
secret crush".
"Details man, details. You can't mention secret and not expect me to
bug you. I am very nosey person, so out with it. Does she go to
school here? What`s she like? Do I know her?", Buffy was jumping up
and down.
"Ok, ok, calm down, I'll tell you but you can't say anything,
promise? Cordy".
"Really", Buffy said stunned, she was not expecting that one, "Well
have you asked her out?"
"Are you nuts, I could never do that. She thinks I am a big loser".
"No I think she cares for you more then you think. I have an idea,
you help me with school and I will help you win over Cordy."
"I think it is a lost cause but lets go. I hear some dead chicken
calling my name."
"Eww".

Buffy and Xander walked into the kitchen of the Summers home.
Joyce was sitting at the counter peeling potatoes, "Hi Buffy, Xander,
I'm glad she could talk you into coming over."
"Oh yeah, she had to twist my arm really hard", Xander told her, "Is
there anything I can do to help".
"Nope I have it all under control but thanks anyway".
"Come on Xan, maybe if we get this homework out of the way, we can
convince her to rent some movies", Buffy said.
"Buffy, it's a Friday night, do you really want to hang out with the
geek".
"Not just the geek but my mom too, so I won't win the Miss popular
award." Joyce looked at the two teens standing in her kitchen, "Well
only if I get to pick out the movie".
"Oh lord what have I got myself into", Buffy muttered and grabbed
Xander arm, "We are in so much trouble."

Buffy came out of the kitchen carrying a bowl of popcorn just as
her mom came in with the video.
"God it is pouring out there", Joyce told them.
Buffy grabbed the video and laughed, "Beaches, oh how depressing."
"Oh cool a tearjerker, I for one have not seen it but I heard it was
really good", Xander said. Buffy sighed knowing she was outnumbered
and put the movie in. While they waited for the previews to end,
Buffy and her mom talked about their day and teased each other about
the movie. Xander sat quietly and watched the playful banter in awe,
wishing that he could have that kind of family. The movie started and
everyone sat and watched. Buffy started to cry toward the end, soon
followed by Xander. As the credits began to roll Buffy turned toward
her mom, "God I hate that movie. It makes me cry no matter how many
times I see it."
"Aww, Buff I won't tell anyone you cried like a baby at a movie",
Xander teased.
"Me, you were crying too", Buffy said laughing and jumped on him
tickling him until he was laughing too. The doorbell rang. "I'll get
it", Buffy said. She threw open the door to find Willow leaning
against the doorframe.
"Hey Buffy is Xander here", Willow asked. Buffy looked at her, Willow
was holding her side and had a big gash above her eye. Her lip was
split and a nasty bruise on her cheek.
"Willow", Buffy said trying to help her in the door. Xander came up
and grabbed the other side to help support her, "Will, did he do
this"?
"Mom can you grab the first aid kit", Buffy asked her mom. Willow
looked at her best friend and nodded her head at his question. Joyce
came back with the kit and started toward the red head. She lifted
her hand to stroke Willow hair to comfort her. Willow jumped and
coward in the corner, shielding her face.
Xander walked over to his best friend and pulled her hands from her
face and looked into her green eyes, "It's ok Will, she's not going
to hurt you. Not all of them are like ours, she is cool." Buffy and
Joyce stood quietly and watched the two friends.
"Xander, I just wanted to tell you that I am going away for a few
days. I need to get out of here for awhile", Willow whispered.
"But Will we have that thing tomorrow", Xander told her.
"You don't need me for that. You and him can handle it. Xander, I
can't stay here."
Xander grabbed Willow wrist, as she was getting ready to walk out the
door.
"Xander please let me go", Willow said.
"No, you can't keep doing this", Xander said.
"XANDER, stop you're hurting me". Xander winced and let her go, tears
rolling down his face. Willow walked out the door into the rain.
"Willow", Xander yelled and chased her to the front yard. "I'm sorry
I didn't mean to hurt you. I would never hurt you. Will, you can't
keep running away from this. You could have killed yourself today and
damnit I can't do this alone. Look at them that's how it's supposed
to be", Xander said pointing to the porch where Joyce had her arm
around Buffy, "She sees that her daughter is watching two people that
she cares about lives fall apart and is supporting her. I want that.
I deserve that. We deserve that." Willow fell to her knees and began
to cry.
"I found a way to make them believe me and I talked to Jenny today.
She is going to let me stay with her. I am going to tell my parents
this weekend and I `m moving out. Come with me, please", Xander
dropped down in front of her and looked at her, "He's going to kill
you".
Willow touched his face, wiping away the tears, "I love you Xander
Harris. You do what you need to do, I will always be here for you, I
promise."
"Don't promise something that you can't do. Because if they don't
kill you, then the drugs and alcohol will."
"I have to go. I will see you in a few days", Willow told him.
"Willow if you go, don`t come back".
"You don't mean that".
"Yes I do, I love you but I will not watch you destroy your life
anymore. You need help and until you get it I don't want to see you
anymore." Willow stroked his cheek, "My sweet, loving Xander,
goodbye, I love you. Good luck, I hope things work out the way you
want them too." "I hope you get that", Willow pointed to the pair on
the porch. Willow got up and walked to the porch, "Buffy take care of
him. He needs you" and walked off in the rain. Buffy went to Xander
who was still sitting in the rain, "She'll be back".
"Buffy I meant what I said. I have enabled her for to long, she has
to do this herself. I have to take care of me for awhile."
"Come on, we need to get you out of the rain", Buffy pulled him up.
Joyce put her arm around the young man and led him into the house.
