Re: FIC: The Night Everything Fell Apart (1/1) NC-17

Shannon,

Scarily believable. I noticed that there's nothing in here about Buffy
loving Willow (indeed, that seems to be the reason for Will's
reluctance), just that she's always been aware of Willow's feelings,
which apparently led to Willow keeping things with Oz presexual, as well
as the abortive moment with Tara. So Buffy has come to assume that
Willow is always there, hers for the taking if the mood ever strikes,
arguably much like the way she treats Xander in canon. (I've been
watching "When She Was Bad" a lot recently.) A vicious little comment
about wearing your heart on your sleeve is what I see here.

The only thing I found to be truly OOC was Buffy making with the "You're
asking for it, with those clothes you wear" talk. Not only does that
hardly apply to Willow's wardrobe at the time, but it's such cliched
"rapist talk" that it should have jarred Buffy out of what she was
doing. Plus, it's the same crap she got from Cameron in "Go Fish".
(Hmm, wonder if this means Buffy's about to turn into the Creature From
the Blue Lagoon...)

But as for Buffy deciding that she's horny enough that she might as well
give Willow what she's asking for and then not hearing that Willow
doesn't want it this way...well, I like to think that the canon dynamic
wouldn't let that happen, but I can envision a dynamic where it would.

Disturbing, and therefore effective, work.

Dan
