Oooh, thanks for reminding me, Xenocide! With another Hannibal Lecter
movie out, Jay is probably doing more jokes.

Personal note: I really don't like most of Leno's comedy. I find it
forced and simplistic, going a long way for punchlines based on tired
premises like "Bill Clinton likes sex". But when "Hannibal" came out in
1999, Jay (or more precisely his writing staff) started throwing out
these Lecter one-liners every night. I'm talking complete with rimshots
from the drummer and everything. The most hilarious thing was that Jay
would always act so embarassed about doing the one-liners, yet they were
constantly snappier and funnier than the more "sophisticated" jokes that
made up the balance of the monologue, IMO.

In fact, two of them have stayed with me during the ensuing 3+ years:

Q: Why does Hannibal Lecter go on ride-alongs with the fire department?
A: Because he's too lazy to cook!

and

Q: Why did Hannibal eat Jennifer Lopez last?
A: Because there's always room for J-Lo!

See? Short and sweet. (Well I liked them, anyway.)
