Re: FF Revelations 2/?
Jolie,
Aww, this was sweet. Buffy and Joyce shopping together for Willow's
flowers was just darling, as was the airport reunion scene. (Hmm,
appropriate time to post this, no?) Loved all the troubles melted away
when they saw each other (aww...) and how Willow's proposal came right
after Buffy said she didn't care who knew she loved Willow.
(I also liked the use of unconventional romantic choices--white roses
instead of red and the engagement ring.)
And then you give me a reunited Cordy/Xander! Delightful. And the
Faith/Tara pairing makes an interesting mirror to B/W. Perhaps it's a
little pat that everyone's paired up and happy, but heck, it's a fic,
you're allowed :) (Besides, I'm sure trouble's on the way...)
Fun indeed,
Dan
PS--*warning: show-related gripe! warning* That scene with Buffy and
Joyce shopping together really got me, because it was so true. Even if
Buffy is a young adult and ready to make a commitment to Willow, at that
age you still need your parents, for guidance and as a sounding board,
and as an example that you can be an adult and not have your head
explode from all that's entailed therein.
There was a person named TEW who used to post on a board I visit, who
hated the repositioning of Buffy as the soccer mom becaused it robbed
her of her youth, because she suddenly has to be Joyce to Dawn's Buffy
and we never really got to see Buffy experience young adulthood, instead
she's been catapulted straight into early middle age. It's one thing
for Joyce to die and Buffy to have to struggle with being a child who
needs her absent parent (clearly an issue close to Joss's own heart),
but IMO it's another for Buffy to suddenly have to *turn into* Joyce,
for Dawn to suddenly be the most important part of Buffy's destiny.
Little scenes like this remind me how much I miss seeing Buffy do the
things she should be doing on the show--graduating college and settling
down with someone she loves, instead of being a counselor to troubled
youth and having everyone tell her what a great mom she is. (Yeesh.)
*sigh*
