Thoughts on 'Selfless' SPOILERS
Ah yes, the ever needed spoiler space. You know, I get myself into trouble on
the spoiler boards because I put spoiler space LOL

Well I actually enjoyed the episode as a whole. But there were a couple of
underlying things going on during and within the storyline that bothered me.
First off, severely NOT liking Willow going all black eyed girl again and
copping a 'tude. Not a good thing at all. It's just proving that with
provocation she can be nasty. Nope, not liking that AT ALL.
And Buffy. What the hell was up with Buffy? Ok yes, I know she's the
Slayer, and she's built and born to slay demons. But could she not look at
least a little upset about having to kill one of her friends? No, I don't
agree with Xander's statement that Anya is one of Buffy's best friends.
Because honestly, they've never really developed their relationship to a
point where I would buy into that phrasing. But she was a friend, even
though not of the best variety, so Buffy should have felt some remorse at
what she was setting out to do. But nope, in fact, after she plunged the
sword into Anya's chest I could have sworn I saw her smirk a tiny bit. What
was up with that? I know alot of rumble on the boards is that Buffy herself
is going bad. I don't know if this episode sets the path for that, but it
was rather strange.
As for the Spike/Buffy parts. Well Xander did get a zinger in there. And a
perfectly reasonable one at that. They seemed to be fond of the 'boneing'
term tonight, didn't they? LOL Anyway, I bet the Spuffers were throwing
their Spike dolls at the set when Buffy made that comment about never loving
anyone the way she loved Angel.
Granted of course that sucks for us too. But speaking of us B/W shippers, it
wasn't that bad for us tonight. Buffy genuinely seemed interested in what
was going on with Willow. That first scene where she got Willow's call she
was all excited, and even managed to ask if she got the class she wanted.
Which says to me that she actually sat down and talked with Willow about
going back to school. Gasp! You mean they actually talked?! What a concept.
Too bad it wasn't on screen. And later on, when Xander jumped on Willow,
Buffy seemed to be more forgiving, at least at the beginning.
The part I really liked though was when they brought up the scene in
'Becoming' where Xander lied to Buffy about what Willow said, possibly
causing the whole thing to happen. They FINALLY bring it up, 5 years after
the fact. And it took a first time writer to do it. What does that say
about the rest of the writing staff? The only problem I did have was that
Willow's idignant, 'I didn't say that' seemed to have been ignored. :(
Anyway, a very watchable episode for me, even if there were underlying
queasies.

Buffy:"I could wrestle naked in grease for a living and still be cleaner than
after a shift at the Doublemeat."
Willow:"Plus, I'd visit you at work every single day."
