I thought Willow's 'descent into darkness' in canon was in many ways at
lease exacerbated, if not actually brought about, by a combination of
Tara's meekness, the string of big successes with powerful spells, and
(post resurrection) Buffy's habit of ignoring the lovely redhead-
necessitating incidences of 'acting out' in an effort to regain her
attention. (Actually, I thought it was complete crap, and entirely
unlikely, given Willow's past behavior, but I'm trying to see things
through joss-colored glasses)



Therefore, we bypass all of that baggage by putting her lover's in
charge, paying more attention, and not killing off Buffy.
