When Mulder and Scully left their motel room they headed down to the 
lobby via elevator.As they were riding down in the elevator Mulder 
decided to piss off the person who had put the spy cables up in the 
airvents on the hallway their motel room was on.Mulder was pretty 
sure that it was the work of Krychek who he hated with a seething 
passion but he wasnt completely sure because it had been a bit too 
easy to see them and Krychek was nothing if not a professional.When 
they reached the lobby Mulder said Scully why dont you go have our 
car brought around i have to go take care of something that will only 
take a minute.Scully said well make sure it only takes you a minute i 
am very hungry.

Mulder watched Scully head for the front entrance and then he 
started walking over to the sign in desk.One of the clerks who wasnt 
busy when he walked up asked if he could help him.Mulder said yes i 
think you can you see i need to report something i saw on the seventh 
floor.The motel clerk said what exactly did you see sir.Mulder pulled 
out his badge and showed it to the motel clerk so that he would know 
he was an FBI agent.Mulder said as me and my companion were heading 
up to our motel room an hour ago i noticed a spy cable hanging 
slightly out of an airvent.The motel clerk said sir let me call for a 
manager and the head of security they need to know about this.Mulder 
said ok but hurry up my companion is out front having our car brought 
around and i dont want to keep her waiting.The motel clerk picked up 
the phone and pressed a button on it.After a few seconds of talking 
to whoever had answered the phone the motel clerk hung it up and said 
they will down in a few seconds.

A minute later a manager and the motel's head of security walked up 
and the manager said sir are you the one who reported the video 
camera sticking out of an airvent.Mulder said yes i am but it isnt a 
video camera its a spy cable which are ussually connected to video 
recorders.The head of security said can you tell us where exactly you 
saw this spy cable sticking out of an airvent.Mulder said its on the 
seventh floor hallway sticking out of an airvent facing the hall my 
motel room is on.The manager said what room are you staying in and 
Mulder said i am in room 732.The head of security said how can you be 
sure it is a spy cable or whatever you called it.Mulder said sir i am 
with the FBI i have seen enough of the damn things to recognize one 
instantly.The manager said we will check this out immedietly and 
Mulder said good and bye the way you might want to check that whole 
hall i doubt it is the only one.The head of security said why would 
their be more than one certainly that is more than enough.Mulder said 
there are two ways to my room so naturally anyone would want to see 
who was coming or going from either direction.The manager said sir i 
hope this isnt some stunt you did for attention i dont care if your 
an FBI agent or not.Mulder said its not my doing and if it is the 
last thing i would do is notify someone.The head of security said if 
it was done someone would have had to seen the person who did it and 
if they didnt i am pretty sure the video cameras that are in the 
elevators or at all entrances did.

The next second Scully walked up and she said hey whats the hold up 
I'm hungry.Mulder said sorry about keeping you waiting i was just 
informing the motel's management about the spy cables that are in the 
airvent on the seventh floor.Scully looked at the man who had a names 
tag that had his name and the title of Manager underneath it and then 
at the man who had his name and security on the name tag he was 
wearing.Scully said well i hope that the two of you will see to it 
that it is taken care of because if either of us find something like 
that again this motel will be swamped with federal agents and cops 
checking this place out from top to bottom.The manager said Ma'am you 
have my assurance that this will not happen again and then he said 
come on Mr.Braddock were going to look into this personally.

When they got into the car Scully said oh Mulder that was a 
brilliant idea and whoever placed them there is going to be oh so 
pissed that they were discovered so quickly.Mulder said Scully I'm 
sorry but i have to disagree with you.Scully said what do you 
mean.Mulder said i recognized the spy cable instantly its a Venti 
mark six which is only available to the goverment agencies.Scully 
said that doesnt make sense no one who is a professional would place 
a spy cable where it could be seen so easily by an experienced FBI 
agents like us.Mulder said i know but for some strange reason i have 
the feeling that it was the work of Krychek.Scully said come on 
Mulder there is no way that Krychek would do anything so sloppy he is 
a true professional if at nothing else.Mulder said yes he is but what 
if he was just trying to catch us off guard by setting up something 
that we couldnt miss.Scully thought a second and then she said you 
maybe right but why set up the spy cables outside the room if he 
didnt even enter our motel room to bug it.Mulder said maybe he didnt 
need to enter it to bug it.Scully said come on get real how could 
have he known where we were going to be staying ahead of time to bug 
the room.Mulder said Scully you forget that you booked the room 
before we got in town he could have easily found out by checking our 
credit cards records.Scully said damn your right and then she said 
when we get back we are going to screen the room for any bugs.Mulder 
said first we are going to need some screening equipment because i 
left our stuff in the office we were in such a hurry to get to the 
airport to catch the flight Skinner got us.

Mulder said Scully please get the attache case out of the back seat 
i want to talk to the lone gunmen for a few minutes.Scully said ok 
and she turned and reached into the backseat for the attache case.
Scully sat the attache case in her lap and then she opened it 
up.Scully dialed the phone number for the lone gunmen and waited for 
thirty seconds for the call to go through all the switchbacks and 
security measures the lone gunmen had set up for their phones before 
it was answered.Byers said hello.Scully said Byers its me will you 
please get the others Mulder wants to talk to all of you and i am 
about to switch on the conference speaker.Byers said ok hold on I'll 
go get them.thirty seconds later Langley said were all here so go 
ahead guys.Mulder said guys i need you to do two things for 
me.Frohike said what do you need us to do.Mulder said well first of 
all i need you to tell me where exactly me and Scully can find a bug 
detecting device out here as well as something that can block out 
anything that might be listening in our conversations from a 
distance.Frohike said your in Los Angeles right not Sunnydale.Scully 
said yes we are in Los Angeles.Byers said thats good because all you 
have to do is go to Omega Binghams he has anything and everything 
that you could want that has to do with surveilance and anti 
surveilance.Langley said we will call the owner and have him gather 
together what you need but i am afraid it wont come cheap.Scully said 
thats fine we still have several pound bags of diamonds the Maharajah 
of Quait secretly gave us after we saved his life.Byers said you know 
guys i am surprised you two kept all of that i thought you would have 
gone strictly by the book and refused the gift or have turned it into 
your superiors.Scully said refusing the gift wasnt an option it would 
have been a terrible insult to him and his whole family.Mulder said 
and it could have had consequences on the relations between Quait and 
the U.S. which we couldnt allow.Scully said he also made us promise 
to keep them and use them as we needed them.Frohike said ok Mulder 
you have told us one of the things you need us to do but what is the 
other thing.Mulder said i need you guys to go to Skinner's home and 
see if you can check out where Krychek is under the table.Langley 
said why do you want to know where Krychek is.Scully said we think he 
might be out here in Los Angeles with us but we are not sure and 
Skinner might be able to find out or not.Byers said ok we will do it 
but you guys be extremely carefull Krychek is very dangerous as both 
of you know all too well.
