Chapter Five: Here's To You

"You make a pitiful attempt at covering up the way you feel for her"
"I know, but I cannot resist, you see"
"Well, try it's not right"

"Buffy turn the T.V off " Faiths full pouty lips beckoned her lover 
to come to her. 
"After this last part.." 
Buffy clicked rewind and curled up watching the scene again.

"You make a pitiful attempt at covering up the way you feel for her"
"I know, but I cannot resist, you -"

Faith snapped the T.V off and stood in front of Buffy.
"We never spend any time together anymore, what's goin on B?" 
Buffy shook her head "Nothing." She said quietly.
Faith sighed "Just tell me Buffy, Spike already did, I need to hear 
it from you now"
"Hear what?" 
"Where did you sleep last night?"
"Willow's"
"And the night before?"
"Well,..Willow's.."
"Who slept here the night before that, though?"
"Will"
"Exactly" 
"She's just my good friend.."
Faith sighed "Why are you denying it like this? Are you trying to 
hurt me?"
Buffy took a hard look at the sultry brunette before standing up 
"You wouldn't understand"
"Try me" Faith challenged
"You don't know what it's like to take a chance on someone"
"I took a chance on dating another girl" Faith offered setting her 
jaw.
"And I wouldn't take it back" she continued
Buffy shrugged looking at the floor.
"It's Willow, I love her.." She stood there in shame, not even 
believing she was actually doing this. As many times as someone had 
cheated on her and hurt her, she was doing this to someone else.
"I know, I think I always have"
Faith was right, Buffy was painfully obvious.
"The only oblivious one was Willow" 
She was right again, maybe Willow was the only one who didn't know 
before last night.
"But it doesn't make what your doing right, you fucked around and 
played games with my head" Faith said shaking her head.
"I never played games,.."
"I never felt wanted around you, these past two months have been 
nothing but your ignoring phone calls and pages"
"I never..!"
"I had to fuck Spike to feel like I was important, for christ's sake 
Buffy!"
"You did what?" Buffy's jaw dropped and she shook her head.
"You know what? I don't believe this" 
"If he hadn't told me, no one would have"
Buffy pursed her lips in anger and turned away from Faith 
heatedly walking off slamming the door behind her, making a photo 
hanging on the wall fall and break. 
Faith walked over to the photo and picked it up, almost as symbolic 
as her relationship--A picture of Faith hugging Buffy and the two 
brightly smiling. Giles had taken it. But now it was nothing more 
then a colored blur admist broken glass. At least it seemed that way 
through tears.
---"Sorry B" She dropped the shattered artifact in the trash and set 
to work.

"Will? It's me, we broke up"
"Oh Buffy I'm sorry" Willow's soft voice came calming to Buffy
"Don't be I did it for you"
"But,.." Willow was shocked
"I wasn't ready to tell her, but I wanted to, you're the only one I 
want and I promised you last night your Christmas present would be 
me" She laughed weakly, a bit dizzy from the events that had just 
took her over.
"It's the best gift ever" Willow said softly 
"Will you be my girlfriend?"
"Of course" Willow would have said more, but she was afraid she'd 
start to stammer, a tear of happiness streaked down her face. 
"Want to come over?"
"Sure" Buffy smiled "I'll be right there"

Buffy raised her fist to knock just as the door swung open.
"Will, hi"
Willow smiled "I uh,..yaknow saw you pull up"
Buffy lept at her hugging her tight and greeting her with a deep kiss.
"Merry Christmas"
"Merry Christmas Buff"
Willow smiled
"So what do we have planned for tonight?"
"I was thinking a fancy dinner or maybe a fireplace resting"
"Who has the fireplace?"
"Well,..okay minus the fireplace" she laughed 
"That leaves us and resting"
"Your damn right it does" Buffy gave her a light push and Willow fell 
back on the couch, Buffy climbing onto her kissing her neck licking 
and sucking.
"Buffy,..wait"
Buffy looked up worriedly 
"What is it?"
Willow waved her hand and the room lit with glowing red and green 
candles.
"Just a little magic this holiday season" she said playfully as Buffy 
resumed her kissing.
"Mmn, this isn't enough magic for you?" she kidded licking her 
shoulder as she pulled her shirt over her head.
"It all depends" Willow laughed
"On what?"
Willow leaned forward into Buffy's ear and whispered 
"On how good you can make me feel" she said sexily.
"I didn't know you knew about these things" Buffy joked lightly.
"I don't" Willow said unconvincingly
"So teach me"
Buffy laughed trailing her hand up Willow's inner thigh.
"My pleasure"

"I'll be right back just going to grab some clothes" Willow smiled 
biting her lip as she watched Buffy strut across the yard to her 
front door. She knocked and then pushed the door open to a dark 
house. 
"I won't disturb her" Buffy told herself as she made her way into the 
kitchen.
A dark sticky substance coated the floor. Buffy panicked thinking it 
may be blood and turned on the light, screaming then shook her head.
"Jelly you moron" she told herself then grabbed her back pack and a 
suitcase going upstairs into her room and beginning to pack a few 
things.
Sitting on top of her dresser was a letter, in Faith's handwriting 
labeled `B' She picked it up and put it in her pocket carrying the 
rest of the things she packed out to the car.
"Ready to go?" Willow asked starting the car.
"Yep"
"Did Faith say anything to you?"
"She wasn't there" Buffy said softly.
"Oh.." They drove the rest of the way in silence, not uncomfortable 
just deep thought. 
"Come on" Willow shook Buffy lightly and she woke up rubbing her eyes.
"We're home"
"oh..so soon?" Buffy yawned stumbling out of the car and grabbing her 
back pack.
Willow hooked an arm around Buffy's waist and led her.

"Xander, come quick, there's this..white stuff falling out of the 
sky" 
Xander jumped up 
"Your kidding me!" He reached the window and his jaw dropped.
"Snow. It's snow, It's snowing, on Christmas" Xander laughed feeling 
almost like a child as he embraced Anya.
"It's wet and cold" she told him looking up at him.
"That's what I love about you, An"
"What? That I'm wet and cold?"
He shook his head 
"No, that your warm and dry" he laughed hugging her tightly to him
"Look outside Buff"
Buffy pulled back the curtain and peered outside at the light 
snowflakes dancing down from the sky.
"Will! It's snowing"
"I know.."
"Just a little holiday magic"
Buffy smiled 
"Took a lot, you made it snow in Sunnydale" she laughed 
"Well..actually..just a small portion of Sunnydale..but still.." she 
laughed 
"I'm going to use the bathroom, and then change into pj's I'll be 
right back"
Buffy took out the letter the moment Willow was out of sight, she was 
curious to know what Faith had to say.
A necklace she'd been gawking over at the mall a few Sunday's ago 
fell out. Diamond heart with a pink diamond in the center. Buffy 
breathed in surprise, unfolding the letter and reading.

`Hey B,
I guess we're not on the best of standings right now. I still wanted 
you to have this, for helping me through all the things I've been 
through. I can't really express my thanks, and you know there'll 
always be a helpful slayer out there somewhere for you. I'm leaving 
at eight pm, Heading off to Seattle maybe, who knows, I'm just 
getting the hell outta SD maybe see the world, that'd be nice right? 
Yeah, maybe I'll drop you a postcard. Anyway, no hard feelings Buffy, 
there was something you wanted more then anything. Something you 
loved and needed, and that's only human. But to give in, and to let 
yourself fall in love, it's a good thing, B even if I wouldn't admit 
it in person, I guess what I mean to say is: Here's to you, B' 

Buffy folded the letter back up smiling to herself 
"Merry Christmas Faith, wherever you are"
"Ready for bed Buf?" 
"Yeah, yea let's go to bed,..it's been a long day"
