Well, I only need one sentence to sum up exactly how I felt about "Lies":

This episode completely disgusted me.

AND I read spoilers beforehand, so I knew a lot of this stuff was going to happen.

I have a tonne of problems with this episode, but I think I'll stick to just a few main ones.

1) Giles. Betraying Buffy. Again. WTF? I honestly don't think he could have been more out of character this episode than ever. He may not agree with Buffy's decisions, but after the consequences of his last betrayal in Season 3, I doubt he would go through it again. And he definitely wouldn't be convinced by Robin Wood of all people. I mean, he barely even knows the guy. He met him once, maybe twice. I'm sorry, but I just don't buy the betrayal.

2) Buffy. Willing to let Dawn die. Another thing I don't buy. She gave her life to allow Dawn to live and now she's willing to sacrifice her. And even if she is, the only person she won't sacrifice is captain peroxide?

Exhibit A: Buffy wastes no time in labelling Anya a killer and dangerous, even though Anya has a soul AND is way more human than Spike could ever be. But no, Buffy goes after her without a second thought and tries to kill her right away, even though they had been friends.

Exhibit B: Spike kills people. Buffy defends him. Spike attempted to rape Buffy. Buffy lets bygones be bygones and defends him. Spike is triggered by the First and the First says it is going to use him later. Buffy defends him. Giles proves that Spike is dangerous and when Spike is triggered, he tries to kill Buffy. Buffy STILL defends AND unchains him.

I'm sorry...but there is no excuse for the EXTREMELY OOC Buffy this Season and in Season 6. Even SMG thought that Buffy was way OOC last Season with Spike and said that she disliked a couple of the episodes because they just didn't portray Buffy correctly. I don't understand why people think James Marsters is hot, I personally don't think he's anything special. And after all the heartache they put Buffy and Angel through in Season 3 to show that she could never be with a vampire is being thrown out the window.

The only reason I will continue to watch is to hopefully see Spike die at the end. I don't care if Buffy confesses her love to him or if he dies 'heroically' (cause no matter what, he'll never be a hero in my books), just as long as he fucking DIES! If he dies, then I will be happy because I don't think there is anything else I can really hope for. See you all on the flip-side and let's hope for a Willow spinoff where there is no Spike ever, EVER AGAIN!
